Organic Vasumati basmati rice is HOI’s initiative of growing the Dehraduni aromatic rice having its origin in Dehraduni basmati in the valley region of mid Himalayas.
This was done as a conversation initiative for the fast disappearing Dehraduni basmati from Dehradun valley. The farmers of Garud valley were introduced the seeds of Dehraduni basmati a decade back and the aroma of the basmati was found to be far more superior than the produce from the plains. The farmers found the production of the biodynamic methods of producing Vasumati a welcome change after the hybrid dwarf variety produced with agro chemicals.
Vasumati basmati gran size is small but elongates almost double after cooking. Vasmuati basmati is excellent in taste and it gastronomic qualities are unique. Vasumati also hasa low glycemic index. The paddy is then milled in certified mills making the process totally chemical free.
